The Pakistani politician said that he would give political support to the Taliban.
Pakistan's opposition leader and head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said he will give political support to the ruling Taliban government in Afghanistan. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important for Pakistan.

Fazlur Rehman, head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), is also the head of the JUI-F, according to ANI, quoting Pakistan's influential Dawn news agency. Afghan Education Minister Mullah Abdul Baki Haqqani invited him to his residence to discuss regional politics. He expressed this support during the talks there.
During the meeting, Fazlur Rehman told the Afghan Minister that "following the principles of (Islamic Sharia) and the struggle (jihad) has led to the success of the Islamic Emirate."
Earlier, Pakistan hosted a special meeting of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
The Taliban took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on August 15. From the beginning, Pakistan was accused of aiding the group in various ways. However, the Afghan economy on the edge of the abyss collapsed with the rise to power of the Taliban. The war-torn country is also facing a major humanitarian catastrophe.
