The European Union is going to impose "the toughest" sanctions on Russia.

The European Union (EU) is set to impose the toughest sanctions on Russia. The ban is set to be announced on Wednesday, according to a report in The Guardian.

The European Union is going to impose "the toughest" sanctions on Russia.

Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Russia's army chief and Russian lawmaker Dumar will have 351 deputies under the ban, the Guardian reports.

The sanctions will take effect after the signatures of EU member states.

The impending EU sanctions are more stringent than those announced by the United States or the United Kingdom.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the deployment of troops in Ukraine after the two separatist regions of eastern Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk, were declared independent. Ordinary citizens of Ukraine have expressed anger and frustration over Putin's decision.

The United States has since cut off Russia from international funding and imposed sanctions on two of its largest banks. On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden imposed the sanctions.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has banned five Russian banks and three wealthy individuals. Gennady Timchenko is one of three people banned. He is close to Russian President Putin.

As a result of this ban, the money of these banks in the UK and all the assets of the three individuals are going to be confiscated.

In a speech to the UK Parliament, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "This is the first step in the embargo. The five banks banned by the UK are Russia, IS Bank, General Bank, Promsavayaz Bank and Black Sea Bank.

Following in the footsteps of the United States and the United Kingdom, Japan has also imposed sanctions on Russia.
