Imran Khan's 'secret attempt' to save the mattress!

Imran Khan has lost his majority in Pakistan's 342-member National Assembly after the two main allies left the party. However, Imran Khan may announce early elections as part of a covert effort to save the mattress, the news agency PTI reported, citing secret sources close to the government.

Imran Khan's 'secret attempt' to save the mattress!

A source close to the Pakistani government told PTI on Thursday that a covert effort was underway with the Tehreek-e-Insaf government and the opposition coalition over the no-confidence vote.

The source further said that all the discussions are going in one direction. That is, the opposition alliance will withdraw the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan. In return, Imran Khan will dissolve parliament and call early elections.

He said if there is an understanding between the opposition and the government, then one of the top leaders of the country can be the guarantor.

If the agreement is implemented, elections will be held in August this year, he said. However, he said that since the opposition did not trust Imran Khan, he would work on the issue of guarantor.

The issue came a day after Information Minister Fawad Chowdhury confirmed a meeting between Army Chief General Kamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday.

Pakistan's military has ruled the country for more than half of its independence since independence from the British. The country's military still wields considerable power over security and foreign policy.

So there is no chance to blow up the news of that source.

However, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Thursday that the opposition should not give a "safe package" to Imran Khan.

He further added that the elected Prime Minister should resign without further delay as he has lost his majority in Parliament.
